Background:    The protein encoded by this gene is a pleiotropic cytokine that functions as a chemoattractant, a modulator of T cell activation, and an inhibitor of HIV replication. The signaling process of this cytokine is mediated by CD4. The product of this gene undergoes proteolytic processing, which is found to yield two functional proteins. The cytokine function is exclusively attributed to the secreted C-terminal peptide, while the N-terminal product may play a role in cell cycle control. Caspase 3 is reported to be involved in the proteolytic processing of this protein. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Human liver cancer tissue using 221855(IL16 Antibody) at a dilution of 1/20(Cytoplasm).

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human liver cancer tissue is first treated with the synthetic peptide and then with 221855(Anti-IL16 Antibody) at dilution 1/20.

The image on the left is immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded Human tonsil tissue using 221855(Anti-IL16 Antibody) at a dilution of 1/20.

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human tonsil tissue is first treated with synthetic peptide and then with D263633(Anti-IL16 Antibody) at dilution 1/20.
