Background:    This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Human colon cancer tissue using 219795(GAD2 Antibody) at a dilution of 1/30(Cytoplasm).

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human colon cancer tissue is first treated with the synthetic peptide and then with 219795(Anti-GAD2 Antibody) at dilution 1/30.

The image on the left is immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded Human brain tissue using 219795(Anti-GAD2 Antibody) at a dilution of 1/30.

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human brain tissue is first treated with synthetic peptide and then with D260383(Anti-GAD2 Antibody) at dilution 1/30.
