Background:    This gene encodes a neuroendocrine peptide that is widely expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems and also the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, adrenal gland and urogenital tract. The encoded protein is a precursor that is proteolytically processed to generate two mature peptides: galanin and galanin message-associated peptide (GMAP). Galanin has diverse physiological functions including nociception, feeding and energy homeostasis, osmotic regulation and water balance. GMAP has been demonstrated to possess antifungal activity and hypothesized to be part of the innate immune system.

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Human cervical cancer tissue using 221341(GAL Antibody) at a dilution of 1/20(Secreted).

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human cervical cancer tissue is first treated with the synthetic peptide and then with 221341(Anti-GAL Antibody) at dilution 1/20.

The image on the left is immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded Human tonsil tissue using 221341(Anti-GAL Antibody) at a dilution of 1/20.

In comparision with the IHC on the left, the same paraffin-embedded Human tonsil tissue is first treated with synthetic peptide and then with D262891(Anti-GAL Antibody) at dilution 1/20.
